Under EU Directive (EU) 2023/2673 (amending Directive 2011/83/EU), any store selling online to consumers in the European Union must allow buyers to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. Compliance becomes strictly mandatory starting 19 June 2026. Merchandisers may not force EU customers to state a return reason, contact support, or complete a survey prior to cancellation.
To help merchants stay fully compliant while keeping returns flexible, Synctrack Returns & Exchanges introduces key enhancements to the EU Withdrawal form. You can now offer exchange options directly within the withdrawal workflow and custom-configure withdrawal windows without custom coding.

What Is the EU Withdrawal Form in Synctrack?
The EU Withdrawal form makes your store compliant with a single toggle. Once enabled, Synctrack automatically reuses your existing return portal, email notifications, and management dashboard.
For orders shipping to EU-27 destinations, Synctrack transforms the standard return process into a fast 2-step withdrawal flow:
- Return reasons become optional.
- Resolution methods and return shipping steps update automatically according to EU legal requirements.
- The shopper receives a compliant withdrawal confirmation.
- Non-EU orders automatically retain your standard return portal rules.
Key Features in the New EU Withdrawal Form Update
1. Allow Exchange on Withdrawal Requests
While EU law mandates a right of withdrawal, shoppers often prefer swapping an item for another size or style rather than leaving empty-handed.
With Allow exchange on withdrawal requests, you can present an exchange option right alongside the withdrawal and refund path. If a customer prefers an exchange, they can complete the swap directly within the portal.
- Default Status: OFF by default. You retain full control over whether to enable exchanges for withdrawal requests.
- How it works: When enabled, the shopper is prompted to select their preferred resolution (such as an item exchange) before proceeding to final review.

2. Custom Withdrawal Window Management
You can now define the exact timeframe shoppers have to submit an EU withdrawal request following product delivery:
- Default Window: 14 days from delivery date.
- Minimum Requirement: 14 days (in accordance with EU legal requirements).
- Shopper Transparency: Shoppers automatically see a clear “Days left to withdraw” indicator for each eligible item in your return portal.
For stores using the EU Withdrawal form, this timeframe supersedes your standard return window for all EU-bound orders.

How the EU Withdrawal Workflow Operates for Customers
Once enabled in your Synctrack admin panel, the feature detects EU orders automatically:
- Accessing the Portal: The customer enters their email and order number (no account creation required).
- EU Destination Detection: Synctrack checks order location against EU-27 countries in sequence: Shipping Address → Billing Address → Customer Default Address.
- Item Eligibility Check: Eligible items display the remaining withdrawal timeframe (“Days left to withdraw: X”). Items outside the window cannot be selected. Reason fields become optional.
- Resolution Selection & Review: Resolution defaults to “Refund to original payment method” (or allows exchange selection if enabled). The return method defaults to “Ship with any carrier”.
- Compliant Confirmation: Upon submission, the customer receives a confirmation detailing the order summary, return address, 14-day refund window, and standard references to EU Directive 2011/83/EU.
