DHL was established in 1969 by Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn to pioneer door-to-door international express shipping. After rapid global expansion through the 1970s, ownership transferred to Deutsche Post in 2002, creating the modern DHL Group. Today, over 600 000 employees operate in 220+ countries, organized into five core divisions:
DHL Express (time-definite parcel and document delivery)
DHL Global Forwarding & Freight (air, ocean and road freight)
DHL Supply Chain (contract logistics and warehousing)
DHL eCommerce (B2C parcel solutions)
DHL Freight (full-load and less-than-truckload road freight)

Q1 When does tracking information appear?
Once the parcel enters the DHL network (scan at origin facility), status updates typically show within 24–48 hours.
Q2 What does “Shipment information received” mean?
The tracking number is active but the parcel has not yet been handed over to DHL. Await the first scan at a DHL facility.
Q3 Why does the tracking number show as “unknown”?
Either the number is incorrect or the shipment has not been registered in the system. Verify the number’s format and retry after a few hours.
Q4 How to change delivery instructions?
Use the Track & Trace result page or the mobile app to select “Reschedule delivery”, “Change address” or “Parcelshop pickup”, subject to sender’s settings.
Q5 What if status shows “Delivered” but nothing received?
Check with neighbors or property office first. If still missing, contact Customer Service immediately with the tracking number to initiate a location trace.
